Removal of alien / invasive species. Acacia saligna is an invasive species that occupies vital space of other indigenous species such as Juniperus phoenicea (Kavo Gkreko SPA) - C3.

2nd and 3rd Consultation Commitee meetings, regarding bird crime in the project sites (26/06/2015, 01/12/2015) - C4.

Nest installation at the project areas during Autumn 2015. Nest types are of 5 types: 1 made of clay, and 4 wooden ones of varying sizes. The artificial nests aim at encouraging the breeeding pairs to lay their nests at the project sites - C2.

Establishment of watering points at the three project sites for our little avian friends during late October - November 2015 - C2.

1st NEEMO Life Team visit for monitoring the project progress (2-3 November 2015) - F1.

Plantation of fruit trees (fig trees, plum trees, apricot trees, carob trees, myrtle trees, hawthorn trees, lentisk trees, loquat trees) for the provision of food and cover for the birds, within the traditional orchards we created in the 3 project areas - C1.

Sowing 12 fields of a total area of 39.480 m2 with cereals and legumes (vitch, barley, peas) in all project areas, so as to provide pesticide free food for the targeted bird species (October - December 2015) - C2.

Fencing establishment along the perimeter of each traditional agricultural field (October 2015) - C1.

Creation of small ponds inside the traditional agricultural fields of the project (September - December 2015). The bird dropings in the picture indicate the usage of the infrastructure by birds - C1.

2nd visit of the Scinetific Committee on the 26th of November 2015, so as to to monitor the ongoing progress of the project actions - F2.

Networking of the Project Management Team with other LIFE projects. Visiting LIFE-OROKLINI on the 29th of October 2015, and BIOforLIFE on 1st of December 2015 - F3.

Restoration of 1,5 ha of 5210 habitat type (plantations of Juniperus phoenicea, Olea europaea, Ceratonia siliqua, Pistacia lentiscus) in Kavo Gkreko and 0,5 ha of 9320 habitat type (plantations of Olea europaea, Ceratonia siliqua, Crataegus azarolus, Pistacia lentiscus) in Koshi area. A total of 1352 young trees were planted. November - December 2015 - C3.

 Construction of 366 running meters of drystone-walls. The selected locations were inside the traditional agricultural fields and near the interventions created by the project (cereal/legume fields & watering points). Drystone-walls provide food and shelter for several small bird species. June - December 2015 - C2.

Raising environmental awareness in public elementary schools from Officers of the Game and Fauna Service that are involved in the project. The lectures/presentations took place at elementary schools of Ammochostos and Larnaca districts, where 350 students participated. The topics discussed regarded the avifauna of the project areas, the project purpose in general and the harmful effects of illegal bird trapping. February 2016 - E1.

1st Stakeholder Workshop of the project, held on the 19th of April 2016 at the Environmental Education Centre of Athalassa. 42 participants took place, among which officers of the Department of Forests, of the Game and Fauna Service, of the Cyprus Police headquarters, representatives of NGOs and freelancer environmental scientists. April 2016 - E1.

The third Scientific Committee meeting of the project took place on the 14th of April of 2016 so as to monitor the concrete conservation actions of the project - F2.

Installation of 25 warning/information signs about illegal bird trapping at all project areas. May 2016 - C4.
